I topic esistenti parlavano prevalentemente di rumour, per il resto c'era "solo" quel che si è discusso dopo l'E3 2009.

Pertanto apro un thread dedicato, con un filmato dal keynote Microsoft tenuto al CES dove abbiamo la conferma ufficiale dell'uscita di Project Natal per la stagione natalizia del 2010:

In un'intervista rilasciata al Financial Post il presidente della divisione Entertainment and Devices di Microsoft, Robbie Bach, anticipa un massiccio supporto third party al (relativamente) imminente add-on per Xbox360 noto al momento come Project Natal.

Q: You said during the Microsoft CES keynote that Project Natal will be available by Christmas. What kind of content and games can consumers expect to see by then?

A: Part of the reason we showed Natal at [the Electronic Entertainment Expo video game trade show] - which is actually a little bit risky to be honest because it's a new technology, very cutting edge and relatively early in its development - is that we wanted third-party publishers to know that it was real and we wanted them to have developer kits and to get them working on it. We have something like 70% or 80% of the publishers in the world already doing Natal-based games. Our first party studios are [also] very focused on this. We want to have a few titles from Microsoft that show the way and then we want the breadth and power of the ecosystem from our partners to bring lots of new ideas, new innovations, new concepts to the marketplace. Xbox games don't go away; you have to think of all this as additive. I think it adds to the beauty of what's going on.

In sostanza afferma che Natal permetterà esperienze mai viste in precedenza e la tecnologia alla base di esso può garantirne l'evoluzione per un arco di tempo che potrebbe raggiungere anche i cinque anni; ha inoltre respinto le accuse/critiche di chi vede il sistema come un "semplice" Eye-toy potenziato.

Lewis also stated that the 360 still has at least five years of life left in it, and that Natal will push the machine to new heights when it arrives this year.

Chris Lewis, a capo della divisione europea di Xbox, assicura: nonostante l'evidente target mass market di Project Natal (a cominciare dal prezzo, che potrebbe aggirarsi attorno alle 50 sterline) Microsoft non intende sostituire, ma portare sul mercato un'alternativa alla propria offerta "core".

Ancora rumour su Project Natal: si ipotizza un prezzo per l'unità stand alone sui $149, in bundle con 360 Elite $299. Lancio attorno a fine ottobre. Natal è da ritenersi un nome in codice, differente rispetto al prodotto definitivo che arriverà nei negozi.
