Contrary to popular belief, editors of the Official PlayStation Magazine don't get free hardware for their own personal use. So I've been having an ongoing debate with myself about the PS3 since E3. After Kaz announced that the price would be $600, I found my enthusiasm sagging.

It's not that I find the concept of a $600 console insulting. Inflation happens, and it's natural that eventually inital prices will be higher than they used to be. But when I know that a console's direct competitors cost two-thirds or half of that price, it becomes harder for me to justify shelling out that kind of money--especially when I can probably get the Wii and the 360 combined for the cost of a PS3.

$600 might be worth it if there were several huge titles on the near horizon that were PS3-exclusive. But for the first year at least, there are very few big titles that are PS3 exclusive. GTA4 and Assassins will be available for the 360 at the same time. And most of the big guns--FFXIII, MGS4--won't be hitting for quite some time after the launch.

The other big reason for people to shell out $600, BluRay, is frankly something I don't care about. I have a crummy 12-year-old 21-inch very-non-hi-def TV sitting on my stand at home, and while we've been talking about upgrading it for the past three years, we always end up walking out of stores TV-less. And I don't buy movies; I rent non-BR discs from Netflix. Much like I've never been an audiophile--as long as I can hear it, I don't care if it's mono, stereo, 5.1, 7.1--I really don't care how high-res the picture is. My bottom line is that as long as it has color and is free from static, I'm good to go.

So ultimately, I can't justify it. $600 is a lot of money, especially when I can get what--for me at least--will be a very similar experience for $400. I would like to own a PS3, and I hope that the price drops soon so I can consider it. But until then, this Official PlayStation Magazine editor will have to join the dark side.

Quando leggete queste righe sarà già stato licenziato  :magia:   !

Perchè spendere 600 euro quando innanzitutto non è che ci siano più chissà quali esclusive (tanti giochi, da PES -in caduta libera- a GTA, sono multy; altri, come GT  :notte: hanno dei degni rivali con Forza 2 e GTR, che lo superano di gran lunga nello stesso settore di cui il catalogo fotografico Poliphony si autofregia -"The REAL Driving SIMULATOR"  :lol2:-), e comunque le principali esclusive Sony, vale a dire FFXIII (saga in declino aggiungerei; il creatore di Final Fantasy per come lo si era amato fino alla Psx lavora in esclusiva su X360) e MGS4 (altra saga in declino) non usciranno prima di un anno dal lancio?

Perchè spendere tutti quei soldi quando non guardo mai un film e davanti a me campeggia un 21" 4:3, e non me ne frega assolutamente niente di cambiarlo ?

Perchè devo spendere quei soldi quando a quella cifra posso prendermi un Wii e un 360 (aggiungerei, col catalogo giochi di GC e Xbox,se prima di quel momento si è sempre avuta soltanto una Ps2 -che comunque sfornerà ancora Okami, God of War 2, Final Fantasy XII, Kingdom Hearts II ...-) ?
Wii 249, X360 verosimilmente 299 ... se i conti sono esatti ci si "risparmierà" pure ! ! !

E cosa mancherebbe a un videogiocatore, con queste due console ???
Ps3 dopo, quando costerà la metà o poco più, e ci saranno giochi per cui varrà la pena davvero comprarla (e con questo non mi riferisco a FFXIII o MGS4, ma un eventuale ZOE 3 e il prossimo gioco di Ueda)

Sembrerebbero le cose che il Profeta predica da mesi   (anzi, io predicherei di buttarsi sulla "old gen" -come del resto consigliato da un altro editore illustre, quello di Nextgame- ma si può godere di Metroid Prime o Ninja Gaiden Black -però scatticchia  - anche con Wii e 360), ma in realtà è un editore di una rivista Sony

Perchè spendere tutti quei soldi quando non guardo mai un film e davanti a me campeggia un 21" 4:3, e non me ne frega assolutamente niente di cambiarlo ?

Comunque da buon anti-profeta continuo a ripetere che secondo me è meglio aspettare (e vedere come vengono almeno recensiti) i giochi di lancio prima di sparare sentenze.

Io sono fermo a MGS2, è vero.

Ma se il primo metteva d'accordo tutti, il secondo divideva sonari (che lo difendevano in maniera ridicola) e non-sonari (che lo guardavano più obiettivamente), e infine il terzo sinceramente non mi pare abbia destato tutto questo scalpore, anzi , mi pare abbia diviso ancora di più la gente per via di controlli e telecamera (tanto penosi da richiedere una versione fixata), e il tutto mentre la narrazione diventa sempre più squallor \ B-movie (ma che dico, C !) con autoriciclamenti di clichè già visti in ciascuno dei 3 episodi, insomma , qualche elemento per pensare a tutt'altro che un'ascesa qualitativa della saga penso ci sia.

Intanto aspetto MGS3 Subsistence PAL ... vedremo ...

Con tutto il rispetto, secondo me dovresti leggere meno le opinioni degli altri e giocare di più. :)

Comunque non è un topic su MGS quindi mi fermo qua.
