After his keynote address at the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, Nintendo's executive vice president of sales and marketing, Reginald Fils-Aime, held a casual question and answer session with various attending journalists. Fils-Aime was surprisingly open about many questions, but the most telling dealt with the company's plans for E3 2006. Reggie opened by stating the obvious: "It's a challenge." Apparently, the booth designs have already been laid out. On top of that, Reggie confirmed that playable demos for their next-generation system, codenamed Revolution, will be present on the show floor. Because the controllers are completely wireless, they will take extra precaution by implementing some sort of advanced anti-theft system. Additionally, the sensors that detect the movement of the controller will be equipped with shielding devices to eliminate possible interference from neighboring kiosk users. This is certainly exciting news for E3 attendees and eager Nintendo fans. The discussion then led to Nintendo's competition. He admitted that Microsoft did a spectacular job at advertising the Xbox 360. However, he believes that the hype created was too much for the feasible supply that Microsoft could manufacture. Thus various game developers may have held off initially to wait until more gamers could get their hands on a system. As far as Sony's PSP is concerned, Reggie said that when he comes across an individual with a PSP, he asks what they use it for the most. Apparently he found that most use it to play UMD movies rather than games. He then commented that Nintendo wants their systems to primarily be focused on gaming and all other functionalities should be considered as welcomed additions.
