I freddi numeri di PS3 sono agghiaccianti. :look:

"In my opinion, rather than separating portable gaming from consoles, it's necessary to continue thinking of it (portable gaming) as one method to deliver more gaming experiences and exploring what our customers want from portable".

Vedremo.

Guillemot, di Ubisoft, dice la sua:

"I think we will see another generation, but there is a good chance that step-by-step we will see less and less hardware," Guillemot said. "With time, I think streaming will become more accessible to many players and make it not necessary to have big hardware at home.

"There will be one more console generation and then after that, we will be streaming, all of us."

Citazione“I will tell you right now, that you're never going to be able to play a competitive game of League of Legends streamed, with people remote around the world, because the aggregate of the speed of light gets in the way of the performance, so you just can't get there,” Riccitiello explained. “The question is, ‘What problem are you trying to solve?’ There are always going to be cases where the technology is an enabler of something, but what is the something you want? So I would argue that what the consumer wants is lower cost, higher performance, better looking, better networked; there's something they're going to want to get out of it.

“Streaming in some cases, can approach the performance of a native game, but it's not the performance of a native game. So the question is, ‘What are those circumstances? When does performance not matter? It doesn't matter with Candy Crush. It doesn't even matter with asynchronous games like Clash of Clans. And it doesn't matter with games that are not latency dependent, like Hearthstone. But it really does matter with Call of Duty and Battlefield and FIFA. So you start to say to yourself, ‘Is there a universal desire for streaming?’

“And the next point would be, it costs money to move data from one point to another. We have money. So you say to yourself, let's take a very high graphics, beautiful game, GTA or Call of Duty, one very multiplayer, one sort of asynchronous with some multiplayer components to it. If you imagine the cost of moving all the pixels from a server to your device, every single time you use it, versus just downloading it once and playing it locally, what do you think the more cost efficient thing to do is? It's going to be more expensive to deliver it over a network, especially with games now that have so much replay value, where they're played not just dozens of hours, but hundreds of hours.”

Ultimately, there has to be a real benefit to the consumer. If the cloud technology enables radically improved gameplay possibilities or something cheaper for the consumer, that’s when things get interesting.

“You can assemble Hal the computer in the sky, string together essentially a cluster of CPUs and GPUs that's a hundred, a thousand, a million times more powerful than your local PlayStation 4 Pro or Xbox or PC. So now I can do something that I've never been able to do before,” Riccitiello continued. “When they talk about that, okay, I'm interested. Or, they can tell me that something is going to be instantaneous and fast and I don't have to waste my hard drive, there's a little bit of benefit for that. But if they can tell me it's cheaper, oh I'm starting to get interested now!”

“I think that right now streaming is talked about too much by people who have a desire to talk tech, but they need to meet with their marketing department and talk about what the customer's actually going to get for it.”

A me non va .

Turrican3

Io quasi certamente no. Poi boh, rimangono scenari non proprio imminenti secondo me...

Citazione"The same team that delivered unprecedented performance with Xbox One X is deep into architecting the next Xbox consoles, where we will once again deliver on our commitment to set the benchmark for console gaming."

[...]

"Why other people might not want to say, hey, there could actually be another console, when we all know there likely is, is because it's a, hey, I need to keep people buying the console that's there. When people buy an Xbox, they buy into an ecosystem and they become an Xbox fan. Many of the Xbox fans we have today started on the original Xbox, were with us on 360 and they're with us now on Xbox One. I trust their commitment to our devices and our services as we go through this journey with them. So, I'm going to be open with them.

"I don't have anything to announce specifically, but I do want people to know that we're committed to the experience they love, of playing great games on a console on their television, and we think that's an important part of the future of our brand."

[...]

"What I would say specifically, without announcing anything, is I'm very proud of our track record of compatibility and us respecting the purchase of games you've made with us and bringing that to the current generation," Spencer said. "It is in our core on who we are.

"As you think about this next wave of hardware that eventually will come, so many of the large, large games people are playing today are still going to exist when the next hardware comes out. You're not likely to see a '2' after all those, as people are trying to move you to the next version of those games. In the old model of games shipping, getting played and then going away - and that was all of the games - a console transition was an easy step-function.

"We went through it with Minecraft. We didn't ship Minecraft 2 on Xbox One to try to compel everybody to move to the next console, because that's not what Minecraft players want. They just want Minecraft to get better. When you look at games like PUBG and Fortnite and you think about these large games and ecosystems that'll be out there, when new hardware comes, people are still going to want to play those games, and it's going to be important for us as platforms to support them."

Bluforce

Microsoft is planning for the next Xbox console release to arrive in 2020. But what is more interesting, is that Microsoft describes 'Scarlett' as a family of devices; meaning we may see multiple pieces of hardware released that year.

Ovviamente no!
