E mi sa che fai bene, conoscendoli. :asd:

Vedremo.

CitazioneAccording to sources with knowledge of the project, Nintendo's next console could have a retail price of anywhere between $350 and $400 based on manufacturing costs, and will ship from Taiwanese manufacturer, Foxconn, this October, putting the earliest possible retail release anywhere between mid-October and early November.

[...]

Additionally, IGN has learned that the system will be based on a revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed, which will, as previously reported, out perform the PlayStation 3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor. Like the Xbox 360, the system's CPU will be a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset, but the clocking speeds will be faster. The system will support 1080p output with the potential for stereoscopic 3D as well, though it has not been determined whether that will be a staple feature.

[...]

As reported last week, it will indeed utilize controllers with integrated touchscreens and be capable of streaming games to each controller, though given the power of the system, could also feasibly provide a virtualized console for each individual unit.

:ohno:

To whom it may concern:

Re: Wii's successor system

Nintendo Co., Ltd has decided to launch in 2012 a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million unit on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.

We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles.

Sales of this new system have not been included in the financial forecasts announced today for the fiscal term ending March 2012.

[UNCONFIRMED, but extremely likely]

Citazione di: NeoGAF updates-Tentative release date of June 2012.
-Controller screen resolution of 800x500.
-Can play games, watch movies, and more without turning on the TV by just streaming them to the controllers. Can stream to multiple controllers at once.
-Each controller acts a terminal, with the console doing all of the calculations to reduce latency, controller cost, and bandwidth requirements.

Citazione di: antonz
They mention It is a 16:9 Screen that is 6" and has an unusual resolution thats in the 800x500 range which is less than 720P and currently it is single touch. Tentative date for launch told to developers is June 2012 and that design decisions can change between now and then.

Worth mentioning as I pointed out in the old thread. Many GPS devices use a 6" Touchscreen that is 800x480 resolution. Good be a very good candidate for screen type.

Is the part where they say you can play games without using a TV an accurate translation?
They do suggest that is supposed to be a big feature of the system. The ability to stream across multiple controllers different media and games.

Weird, I'm looking up 6" GPS screens and they're calling 800x480 "high definition."
Yep alot of these smaller screens get called HD which would explain why there was confusion early on when one source said HD.

CitazioneProject Cafe: a few precisions on the controller and the streaming

A tablet similar the UDraw, advanced streaming functionalities with the console and the tablets/controllers, the latest news on the Wii 2.

The informations published yesterday by IGN on the Project Cafe technical characteristics confirm what we have published in our April 15 article (http://www.01net.com/editorial/53163...eur-de-la-wii/ . Also, our sources confirm that the "mablette" [TN: untranslatable] (contraction of controller and tablet), that we revealed the existance here (http://www.01net.com/editorial/53166...-pour-manette/ , has been described by Nintendo as a version 2.

Similar to the UDraw [TN: bad translation]

To give us an idea of what it will look like, our sources suggest to imagine a near cousin [TN: read, similar] to the UDraw graphic tablet, designed by THQ for the Wii, with a touch screen in place of the pen pad, and the controls distributed around the screen (triggers, d-pad, 2 "bumpers" (shoulder button?), sticks, etc.)

The Project Cafe controller could be described as a near cousin of the UDraw tablet that THQ created for the Wii.

Screen is not HD

The 6" panoramic screen is, for now, single touch with an uncommon resolution 5**x8**, clearly below 720p. We think the tablet (V2) seems to be most credible development path [TN: really not sure about this one]. Remember that until the planned release in June 2012, tentative date given to the developers, Nintendo will have the time to significantly change the shape and look of the controller and the console.

[Label to the first mockup] A non-official mockup, described by our sources as one of the closest to the design of the V2 controller.

A story of streaming

IGN also talked about the design of the console, saying that it is a kind of futurist SNES. Our sources cannot talk about this, since most developers don't have a prototype with the proprietary casing. Also on the English website, Nintendo consider calling the console "Stream".

Here again, our source cannot confirm this, but it could be a plausible choice and clever (excluding the urinary connotations, in the same lineage of the Wii, that already make people laugh on the English web). The streaming will have a central role for the attraction of this Project Cafe. The console will be able to wirelessly broadcast (stream) many type of streams (misc media, games) to the controllers. It will be possible to play games without turning on the TV, or begin an intense match on the TV and continue it in the bathroom. A true revolution.

[Label to the second mockup] A last mockup that does not correlate to the description by our sources, but remains credible.

Thin client?

The console and its controllers could work using a principle of "virtualization", where most of the processing is done on the console and the controllers act as display terminals, displaying pre-computed content [TN: code in the original article]. This system could broadcast high quality games on the controllers, with no noticable latency and without using compressed video streaming, which requires large bandwidth.
