Nessun numero "ufficiale" ovviamente (è troppo presto) ma l'impressione è che davvero PSP sia partita col piede giusto in Europa, almeno nel Regno Unito.

Stock Going Fast For PSP In Europe

A straw poll of European retailers conducted by investment banking group Altium appears to show that the PSP has had a very strong launch, with some stores already running out of stock.

"What is very clear is that the console has had a very strong launch, with virtually no stock," said a group representative. According to Altium's information GAME, the largest single video game retailer in the UK, achieved a 40 percent share of sales in large part thanks to the opening of 250 stores on the launch at midnight on September 1st.

The PlayStation brand is exceptionally strong in Europe, where both Xbox and Nintendo come a distant second and third, and a successful launch was largely expected. However the reason give for the eight month delay in the launch, from the original Japanese release, was to ensure that sufficient stock was available.

Interestingly Altium also commented that its analysts felt that the launch of the Xbox 360 (which it claims will take place on November 25th in Europe) would have a negative effect on the overall market as its software is priced "too high". The banking group therefore expects a disappointing Christmas, with the Xbox 360 launch offsetting the positive PSP's performance and keeping forecasts unchanged.

Sono sempre convito che PSP forse senza diventare un nuovo gameboy (che ha avuto un ciclo di vita lunghissimo e praticamente privo di concorrenza) sarà un grande successo.

I nuovi titoli Capcom (Ghost & Goblin e Street Fighter) non sembrano malaccio e personalmente spero nella diffusione di giochi che sfruttino il game sharing e wireless, insomma PSP cresce  :)

Non sono certo un utente ultrainformato, infatti del fantomatico SF4 non so proprio nulla.
Questo invece sembra proprio crescere bene, se ci si potrà giocare in sharing con il wirelss, sarà delirio !

Arrivano i primi dati ufficiali per PSP in Europa: il nuovo portatile Sony si assicura il primato di miglior lancio della storia degli UK con 185 mila console vendute nei primi tre giorni di vendita, contro le 87 mila del DS che era il precedente detentore del record.

Benissimo anche il fronte software dove la top 10 della settimana vede in classifica ben 9 giochi su 10 per questo nuovo formato.

Sony's PSP smashes UK records with 185k sales at launch

The PlayStation Portable has officially enjoyed the biggest launch weekend of any console in the UK, with around 185,000 units of the system being sold in its first three days at retail.

The figure - which comes from UK market analysts Chart-Track - is more than double the sales of the previous record holder, the Nintendo DS, which sold around 87,000 units in its first weekend back in March.

The performance of the console reflects the pent-up demand in the UK market for the PSP, which has been heavily featured in the mainstream media here since it launched in Japan nine months ago.

It also defies retail fears that Sony might be unable to meet demand for the system - with initial concerns over a small first day shipment proved unfounded as the company continues to refill the channel with more units on what SCE UK boss Ray Maguire told GamesIndustry.biz is "a daily basis."

Software for the system also sold strongly, with 20 of the 24 titles for the system entering the top 40 and nine of the top ten titles last week being PlayStation Portable games, with the only exception being Codemasters' Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 at number two.

However, there was no stand-out hit title in the first week - with Namco's Ridge Racer being the number one seller, but only going out to around a fifth of PSP purchasers, or roughly 37,000 unit sales.

Instead the software sales were spread around several top titles, with Wipeout Pure coming in at number three, Virtua Tennis at number four, Metal Gear Ac!d at number five and Need for Speed Underground: Rivals at number six.

In fact, five of the top ten titles are PSP racing games this week - with Rockstar's Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition and Codemasters' Toca Race Driver 2 joining the three previously mentioned racers at numbers seven and eight respectively.

In terms of non PSP titles in this week's chart, only two new games enter the ranking - with Novalogic's Delta Force: Black Hawk Down on the Xbox and PS2 debuting at number one on the Xbox chart, and entering the all-formats chart at number 15, while Microsoft's Dungeon Siege II tops the PC chart but only reaches number 33 on the all-formats ranking.

Dai comunque scherzi a parte .... credo sia comunque l'effetto lancio ed hype alle stelle visto il ritardo del portatile Sony in Europa; certo il mercato Europeo è olto più vicino a quello statunitense che a quello jappo e la PSP ha tutte le carte in regola per far volare le vendite battendo ogni record.

.....alla fine credo pure io che il dual/touch screen presto perderà il suo appeal, lasciando il DS "nudo" a combattere contro PSP in ogni zona.

Io invece... la vedo durissima! (  )

Preferisco però, anche per "coerenza" con il mio avatar aspettare ancora un (bel) po' prima di dare per spacciato il povero DS.

Fermo restando che PSP deve ancora spararsi delle cartucce mica da ridere (FF in JAP e WE un po' ovunque, meno che in USA forse dove il calcio è notoriamente poco seguito rispetto ad altri sport) sono convinto che l'allargamento dell'utenza che sta cercando Nintendo, che va apparentemente in direzione un po' diversa da quello ricercato da Sony, possa riservare delle sorprese.

Come ad esempio le 250k copie di Nintendogs vendute in una settimana negli States. E voglio vedere se e quanto questo ha influenzato le -finora- non esaltanti vendite del DS che hanno portato al recente calo di prezzo. ;)

Insomma, giocare alla sfera di cristallo è molto divertente, ma in tutta onestà quanti di noi avrebbero scommesso su un DS che in Jappo vende (da mesi) mediamente il doppio di PSP?

Io no di sicuro. E quindi non posso far altro che ripetere il mio slogan preferito: sarà (è) una bella lotta  :cowjoy:
