Wondering why the promised streaming of video to your 360 doesn't work with WMP11 Beta 2? Thought a dashboard update would fix it? Sadly, this is not the case.

It seems that after all the hype a simple Microsoft error mis-guided almost the whole of the Xbox community. Microsoft originally stated in a press release for Beta 2 that:

If you have a home network (wired or wireless), you can use Windows Media Player 11 to stream the contents of your library to networked devices such as Xbox 360 or other digital media receivers.

Great, the 360 can stream videos. Sadly, this is turns out to be false. Ken Fisher from Arstechnica fired off an email straight to MS asking for the facts. The response was not so good:

that it was an error on their part. While WMP does support Windows Media Connect for pictures and music, video is not supported.

So, loyal Xboxic readers, arm yourself with your mouse and click your way over to Wildchicken, the lead designer of the Xbox User Experience team and complain on his comments section about the lack of video streaming on the 360.
