[PS3] Costo dei giochi e Sony concentrata sulla PS3 da 20Gb

Japanese site Impress Watch recently wrote an article after Sonys TGS keynote speech revealing some rather interesting info. about the PS3.

Undoubtedly the bit which will have most gamers worried is the fact that PS3 games will retail for between 8,800 and 9,800 yen which is approximately $75 to $85. The reason for this rather expensive price tag is because of the rising cost of development.

The article also went on to reveal that Sonys initial idea of gamers making their own games has been put on-hold indefinitely. What's more the article continues by stating that support for 3rd party developers is 'lagging'.

The article continues by saying that Sonys plan is to sell the PS3 for 'surprisingly low' prices and then they will make up their lost profit in software sales. Maybe that's why they recently slashed the price of the 20Gig model in .

What's even more interesting is the fact that even though gamers will be able to buy the 60GB version of the PS3 Sony is shifting a large amount of focus onto the 20Gig model. Sony hope that doing this will mean they will go form being a multi-SKU business model to a single-SKU business model.

So for now it looks like games are going up in price and the 20Gig version is surely the bundle to buy. We'll keep you updated on this story as it unfolds.

Secondo me in Europa i giochi li venderanno a 100 euro  ::)

A quel prezzo sarebbero totalmente fuori mercato, altro che riprendere i soldi persi con la console.
In giro c'è gente che direbbe qualunque cosa pur di spalare merda sulla PS3.

A questo punto, con l'inserimento dell'HDMI quella da 20 gb diventa la mainstream.
Oltretutto è più bella.

Penso che in Sony abbiano leggeremente (  ) rivisto le strategie, anche se, secondo me, gli early adopters compreranno qualunque modello pur di averlo subito. Quindi a breve il problema, per Sony, non si pone.

Boh è indubbio che l'inserimento della porta HDMI sulla base sia positivissimo ma sai, non credo che questo influenzerà più di tanto gli acquirenti, men che meno al lancio dove ci sarà da divertirsi (e per qualcuno, fare $$$) su Ebay.

Se all'HDMI si aggiungesse un taglio di prezzo in USA e/o Europa sarebbe ben diverso, ma ha senso farlo adesso che la domanda è alle stelle e supererà di gran lunga la disponibilità di macchine?

Sony confirms no PS3 price cut for US


As analyst labels reduction "a sign of weakness"

Sony has confirmed that the price cut for the 20GB version of the PlayStation 3 is region specific - there will be no reduction in price for the US.

The price of the Japanese 20GB model has been slashed before launch, from 62,790 yen (421 euro) to 49,980 yen (335 euro).

But speculation of possible price cuts outside of the region has been quashed, with Sony boss Kaz Hirai stating "There are no plans right now to adjust the pricing for the US market," in an interview with GameSpot.

The reduction in price has been seen as a token effort by one industry analyst, with UBS Securities' Mike Wallace commenting, "This price cut is only on the 20GB version of the PS3 in Japan, which in our view is not significant given that the US is the key market for the PS3."

Wallace also labelled the move "a questionable business decision and a sign of weakness."

Japanese firm Retela Crea Securities also recently branded the price cut "ridiculous".
