Non si tratta di Multi/CW se è a quello - come penso - che ti riferisci, tra l'altro lì hanno chiuso il thread per motivi assai diversi.

Immagino che la mia precedente citazione dello "sfociare in polemica" ti abbia messo fuori strada, ma in realtà mi riferivo alla polemica sul sentirsi toccati dalla scomparsa di un personaggio pubblico, che appunto per qualcuno suona "strano" (eufemismo).

CitazioneThousands of admirers and business associates gathered in Kyoto to say a final farewell to Satoru Iwata, the Nintendo Co. president who died of cancer on Saturday at age 55.

The Kyoto-based company held two days of funeral services for Mr. Iwata according to Japanese custom. At a temple, people wearing black and carrying umbrellas because of a nearby typhoon lined up to pass his coffin. Some even carried a Nintendo 3DS handheld game machine, which was introduced by Mr. Iwata.

Nintendo said more than 2,600 people attended in the first day, and 1,500 came on the second day.

For videogame enthusiasts, Mr. Iwata meant more even than Steve Jobs, the former Apple Inc. chief who died in 2011 at 56. When much of the videogame industry was focusing on improving graphics or boosting the computing power of consoles, Mr. Iwata distinguished his company by introducing unique products such as the Wii machine, which uses a sensor-controlled pointing device as a controller.

Mr. Iwata’s death comes at a turning point for the videogame powerhouse, which is venturing into smartphone games, theme-park projects and the health-monitoring business. Facing challenges from smartphone entertainment and Sony’s PlayStation, Nintendo needs to maximize the use of its legendary game characters to attract more fans, analysts say.

Nintendo hasn’t named a new president. Taking the baton for now are Genyo Takeda and Shigeru Miyamoto, representative directors of Nintendo. Mr. Takeda developed the Wii with Mr. Iwata.

Delivering a eulogy Friday, Mr. Takeda said that he and Mr. Miyamoto would strive to complete the work that Mr. Iwata started. Mr. Takeda said the seeds that Mr. Iwata planted would one day grow into flowers “that will make people around the world smile.”

Iwata-san, you left us far too soon. Having just chaired our shareholders' meeting the other day on June 26, the news of your sudden death has left all the employees overcome with a deep sorrow. The late Yamauchi-san passed the baton to you in naming you the president of Nintendo in 2002, and the two Senior Managing Directors of the company, Shigeru Miyamoto and I, have been assisting and working alongside you. Being rather short-tempered myself, the thing that I am most deeply struck by is that you were a true leader in every sense of the word, overflowing with compassion for people. You always maintained a two-way dialogue, even with the next generation of employees, or with much younger members of the development and marketing teams, or with employees outside of Japan whose different customs and cultures can make communication challenging — sometimes even admitting your own mistakes to them. You demonstrated this through your belief that people could eventually come to understand one another, and your strong conviction that the best way for us to grow is through patient communication, even if it took several times, a dozen times or even seemingly endless discussion.

You succeeded in planting the seed in employees' hearts that, in order to solve an issue, there is a fundamental cycle whereby you make a hypothesis, execute the plan, see the result and then make adjustments, and by which you have caringly nurtured these seeds to sprout and mature into plants.

Until now, our successors and the younger generation would take a few first steps and then look back at you for guidance because they could not tell if they had chosen the right path. Today they cannot ask for your guidance anymore.

However, I am sure that they have already made the firm determination that they will continue on their own, making the hypothesis, executing the plan, seeing the results and reflecting on the results to improve and adjust by themselves.

In the face of your unbelievable passing it will surely take some time before we can emerge from this deep sorrow. Please know, however, that the seeds you have planted, and the plants that have sprouted will put forth small flowers as they bring smiles to the faces of people around the world, blossom into a grand flower bigger than even you, our leader, Iwata-san. Together with Miyamoto and others of our generation, we swear in our hearts that we will continue our efforts so that, someday, we can report and present to you the blossoming of these flowers. May you continuously watch over and guide us managers, our employees and your family.

On behalf of all of us, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences and sincerest prayer. May you rest in peace, Iwata-san.

E' passato un mese dalla morte di Satoru Iwata.

Mentre mi domando se possa trovare applicazione anche nel suo caso, specificatamente la nomina del nuovo CEO di Nintendo, il periodo di "pausa" forzata di 49 giorni che menzionò due anni addietro quando gli chiesero delle sorti delle azioni in mano allo scomparso Yamauchi, scovo grazie al sempre ottimo Bakke quello che forse si può ritenere una sorta di testamento spirituale del Presidente.

Sharing Enduring Values

 The key to achieving this goal is found in our three core values – originality, flexibility and sincerity – which we define as Nintendo DNA. Since all Nintendo employees fully share the Nintendo DNA and act based on these unwavering values, we have been able to continue taking on new challenges and providing value to society.
 Nintendo has continued to offer entertainment products that can be enjoyed regardless of age or gender and, as a result, I hope that as signs of trust in the Nintendo brand, people feel safe letting their children play with our products and know that these products always make their families smile.

Nintendo's Important Assets are Intangible
 As a new challenge, we released "amiibo," a new product line that uses the IP characters that appear in our games. The year 2015 is the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., and one of our goals for these characters, which are loved by so many people, is to take them beyond the game world through this new platform in the form of figures that are compatible with multiple games and create new play styles. We also hope they will bring smiles to the faces of consumers and connect them in a way that transcends the barriers of language and culture in the real world.
 amiibo has presented Nintendo with the opportunity to work with new production partners because it is our first full-fledged production of figures. For these partnerships, we first confirm that we share the goals of not only making high-quality products but also contributing to society and collaborating to make a better world through CSR procurement* efforts. In order to produce high-quality products, we believe it is imperative that we share an understanding with our partners of the kind of business relationship we would like to have, as well as the kinds of products we would like to create.
 Our many IP assets, our strong relationships with our business partners, and our employees, are not items that appear on our financial statements. However, I firmly believe that these intangible assets are essential for Nintendo to continue to achieve sustainable growth and to enhance corporate value.

Improving Quality of Life
 Nintendo is a company that has innovated flexibly throughout its history to provide a variety of entertainment offerings. However, I feel that having the video game business at our core for such a long time has caused many people to put up an imaginary wall that Nintendo is a company that should only make products related to video games. In order to overcome this belief, we revised our definition of entertainment as "improving people's QOL (Quality of Life) in enjoyable ways."
 QOL refers to the quality of the content of each individual's life and lifestyle from a social perspective. Our understanding of what it means to improve people's QOL does not simply pertain to living a long life but that, through living life in your own way, you will find happiness. Many aspects of our lives require consistent effort and perseverance in order to improve QOL, but if we can leverage our know-how in continuous enjoyment that we have cultivated through video games, we can help people to improve their QOL without losing interest.
 QOL includes many themes such as good physical health, healthy social relationships, fulfilling work, a comfortable living space, sufficient education, and leisure time. Nevertheless, the first theme we will focus on is health in terms of "sleep and fatigue." While sleep and fatigue affect everyone throughout the world, many aspects have yet to be sufficiently clarified from a scientific perspective, so I think there is great significance in taking on this challenge. In addition, if we are able to make proposals incorporating systems that, for example, enable people to check the sleep conditions of parents who live far away and watch over them, this theme could provide something of great value to society.
 Looking to the future, we hope to create value by making the impossible a reality with Nintendo products, and bringing smiles and surprises to everyone.

* CSR Procurement
    Our production partners are also required to be involved in CSR and to encourage the promotion of CSR activities throughout the entire supply chain.
